The course is addressed to second year students. It consists of an introduction to the physics that determine the formation and evolution of stars. It also includes a presentation of the basic history in the developments of various astronomical concepts, as well as an extended coverage on the details of the physical processes in the Sun.
Introduction to Astronomy (Historical concepts - the Solar System), Distances and luminosities of celestial objects (Telescopes), Solar radiation and other stars (Solar constant - Black body radiation), Physical process in the Sun (Nuclear reactions - Nucleosynthesis - Photon Diffusion - Turbulence - Phenomena of the Solar atmosphere), Stellar clusters and the Hertzsprung - Russell diagram, Structure and Evolution of stars (Main sequence- Giant branch - Supernovae explosions), Stellar remnants (White Dwarfs - Neutron Stars - Black Holes), Double stars (Compact stars in a double system - accretion disks - jets).
The courses of the Computer Science Department are designated with the letters "CS" followed by three decimal digits. The first digit denotes the year of study during which students are expected to enroll in the course; the second digit denotes the area of computer science to which the course belongs.
