Georgios Tziritas is Full Professor at the University of Crete, Department of Computer Science.
He joined the University of Crete on September 1992 as Associate professor.
From 1982 he was a researcher of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique,
with the Centre d'Etudes des Phénomènes Aléatoires (CEPHAG, until Aug. 1985), with the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA, until Jan. 1987), and with the Laboratoire des Signaux et Systèmes (LSS). He received the Diploma of Electrical Engineering (1977) from the Technical University of Athens, the Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies (DEA, 1978), the Diplôme de Docteur Ingénieur (1981), and the Diplôme de Docteur d'Etat (1985) from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble. G. Tziritas is co-author (with C. Labit) of a book on "Motion Analysis for Image Sequence Coding" (Elsevier, 1994), and of more than 110 journal and conference papers on signal and image processing, image and video analysis, computer vision and pattern recognition. His research interests are in the areas of multimedia signal processing, image processing and analysis, computer vision, and image-based visual representation.
