u-map

Description:

The project focuses on the development of a user-centric QoE-driven geo-database system with cross-layer network measurements. Its database includes traces of signal strength, packet losses, and delays and opinion scores (QoE) about the performance of various services (as perceived by the user), in a per-application basis, integrated with spatial and temporal information. The u-map can be accessed by users in order to obtain information about a network provider, its coverage, price, quality of services, and its customers satisfaction and make an “educated” selection of the appropriate operator. Providers also access this database to obtain information about their coverage, user feedback to improve/adjust their deployment and services.

The long-term objective is to provide a methodology with guidelines and software tools to infer network and service performance that can be beneficial to regulators, users, and operators/providers.
