Recognition of Courses from other Departments
The courses that a student attended successfully and also the work that
he/she did in an other University of Greece or abroad, or during of his/her
previous study in an other Department of University of Crete, it is possible
to be recognized for the satisfaction of the graduation requirements from the
Department, under certain conditions. This recognitions include courses and work
in the frames of students exchange as financed from the "E.E Sokrates/Erasmus"
programs. Also include all the courses that the student had before he/she
cames in the Department by transcription, eleven-plus etc.
Those recognitions are done from a special three-member committee of
DEP members and composed from (a) the representative of the Department
in the Committee of International Relations of the University, (b) his
assistant, and (c) the chairman of the Committee of the basic studies program
of the Department.
The committee receives (officially) the documents of the collaborative University or
University of origin, in which are reported the courses/work, the CC, and the student's
grade, and judge the recognition or not of the course/laboratory, as well as to which
course/work/category of our Department becomes corresponding. The committee takes care
of the corresponding of the grade and CC based on the scale of the Department.
The committee maintains the possibility to change the prerequisites courses and
time experience which by any chance are required for the recognition of the course (work).
The committee can ask for the opinion of a DEP member of our Department or an other responsible
Department of UoC (e.g. Mathematic/Physics etc) that usually teaches a corresponding/related
course in our Department.
The committee, a member, or a "related" DEP member can proceed in interview with
the interested student so that they can realise, with the highest precision, relevant
subjects with the recognition.
Unanimous decision of committee is final. On lack of unanimity,
the subject it is referred to the Department's assembly for final decision.
The committee has competence of recognition for at most forty (40) from
the total CC that measure for the acquisition of the degree.
For the recognition of courses and work above 40 CC is required decision
from the Department's assembly.
